At Ackerman Auto and Tire, we’re proud to serve the Ashland and Wooster communities with trusted auto repair and tire services. Our story begins long before our 2018 ownership, rooted in a location that has been a cornerstone of local automotive care since 1982. Originally opened as Ross Auto and Tire under Ross Barnes, the shop has changed hands a few times over the years, but has always been dedicated to providing quality service to every customer.

In July 2018, we took over the business at 3493 Cleveland Road, continuing a tradition of excellent automotive care. Our shop operates with five service bays and a team of seven skilled employees. One familiar and cherished face at the front counter is Desi Arnette, who has been a part of the team since 1993. She is the heart of the shop and the friendly face that greets every customer.

Our two Ackerman Auto and Tire locations handle your everyday needs, including tires, oil changes, brakes, and suspension with precision and speed. For more complex challenges, our Ackerman Auto Repair location offers advanced diagnostics and focuses exclusively on heavy mechanical repairs. From engine and transmission rebuilds to intricate drivetrain diagnostics and tow-in recovery, we have the dedicated space and expertise to solve the toughest automotive issues.

Every vehicle that comes into our shop is treated with care, and every customer is treated like family. Our History and Experience

Our founder brings decades of automotive experience to the shop. Starting in the 1990s, he worked part-time at a Walmart Automotive Center in Wooster, where he discovered a love for helping people and the fast-paced world of auto repair. Later, he moved into finance but eventually returned to automotive service, spending 10 years at Kauffman Tire and rising to the position of store manager. While he valued the customer-focused environment, he found corporate ownership often shifted priorities away from service. This inspired the creation of Ackerman Auto and Tire, a place that always puts the customer and their vehicle first.
